If the title of Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu’s first album, Fugitives, evokes the ephemera and the passage of time, the music of this composer is anchored in his era and his compositions unwind the timeline of an atypical, sensual and endearing musician who is celebrating his 50th birthday this year. This CD is a testament to the collaboration between Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu and the Kheops ensemble since 2006, when this versatile and multifaceted group made up of exceptional talents was formed. Fugitives is the first stage of the Kheops ensemble’s adventure with Cyprès. It begins with the present, in the form of works by Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu, and works backwards with trios by Brahms and the programme ‘Danses rituelles’, a collection of French chamber music with harp.
So many fugitive emotions in the making.
